Solving the issue of obtaining long-term work permits for foreigners

A long-term work visa (work card) is a work permit, thanks to which a foreigner can legally work in the Czech Republic. Work permits for foreigners are issued for a period of more than 90 days and for a maximum of 2 years. The advantage is that  you can renew your employment card over and over again and can therefore work continuously at your workplace.

How to get a work permit 

To obtain a long-term  work visa, you must:

  • find a suitable job
  • Have a signed employment contract with your future employer
  • Provide proof of secured accommodation in the Czech Republic
  • apply for a job that has been registered with the employment office for 30 days
  • prepare the necessary documents for your application
  • to meet the appointment at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in the specified country

You will receive notification of a work permit within 60 days, in complicated legal cases it can take up to 90 days.
